My main research focus for the last 10-15 years has been understanding the causes an consequences of rapid adaptation (ecological and evolutionary) to environmental change. This work involves using theory and concepts from evolutionary ecology, life history theory, population genetics, and metabolic theory to predict and understand how organisms adapt to rapid changes in the environment. Study systems include freshwater aquatic insects (mosquitoes, mayflies, other diptera), zooplankton, phytoplankton, and museum specimens. My lab is also very interested in linking rapid evolution to ecosystem level processes.
