Areas of expertise
I did my MSc and PhD in The Netherlands, followed by post-doctoral stays in the USA, The Netherlands, Sweden and Spain. I´m currently associate professor, and leading my own research group composed of a post-doc, three PhD students, one MSc student and several technicians. We study the distinct mechanisms that may drive adaptation in the broad sense, and the causes of consequences of Matching Habitat Choice in particular. We currently use Drosophila flies and Zebra finches for this, using novel techniques such as optogenetics and feeders operated by transponders. We have studied grasshoppers and crossbills in the past. For more info see my website: https://pimedelaar.org/.
