Educational and work
The common thread throughout my research has been to use genomic tools to infer signals from both selective and neutral processes. I have worked with a variety of different model systems (fish, crickets, grasshoppers, plants, and seaweed flies). The beginning of my career focused on the genomics of speciation but now I mostly work on determining the evolutionary significance of structural variants such as inversions. I combine theoretical (forward simulations) and empirical tools to determine how structural variants affect evolutionary trajectories and influence processes such as adaptation and speciation.
