Graduated Oxford 1985 in Natural Sciences (Zoology). Master's from King's London in History and Philosophy of Science and Mathematics in 1988. PhD from Department of Geology, University of Bristol, 1993. After positions in Zoology at University of Glasgow and Biological Sciences at Bristol I moved to the NHM in London in 1998. The main foci of my research are the biology of caecilian amphibians, and the theory and methods of phylogenetics.
