Hiroshi Akashi is a Professor of Evolutionary Genetics at the National Institute of Genetics, Japan. He worked with Marty Kreitman for his PhD in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from the University of Chicago (1996) and with John Gillespie as a postdoctoral fellow at UC Davis. He has been a faculty member at the University of Kansas (1998-2000), Penn State University (2000-2008), and NIG (2009-present).
